Oobleck!

(not sure why the granola bar?)

Josiah checked out a book I'd never seen before from the library.  After reading the book we decided to make 'Oobleck'.  Apparently this is a popular science experiment and we found plenty of recipes.

We all played with it and had a good, messy time!  It behaves like both a solid and a liquid, depending on how you touch it.  Very strange.  And fun!

And did I mention, MESSY.

Mother's Day

Motherhood.

"Therefore, my dear sisters, stand firm.

Let nothing move you.
Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,
because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
1 Corinthians 15:58

Loving the little years; Beyond Bath time; Bringing up Boys; The Strong Willed Child...

These are the titles of books I've started and never finished, or want to read but can't seem to string the minutes together.  Because I'm IN the little years, giving the baths, bringing up boys and loving a strong willed child (or two)!

I read this scripture and found the above video at (in) courage today, in honor of Mother's Day.  How fitting.

I have so much to be thankful for!  Children are my blessing.  Their pure love and innocent eyes for life are so refreshing.  But this job is not for the faint of heart.  When that scripture reads to "stand firm," I take that seriously.  Because there are days when I do not want to stand at all.

I've learned a lot being a mother.  This year I think I've learned how very much I need my Savior!  My weakness shouts at me every, single day.  I can't do this job of Mothering without my Heavenly Father, guiding me, leading me... loving me all the way.  I don't have what it takes to love.

Praise God that His well is deep!  Thank you Father that you give Living Water.  Your love overflows.

Stand Firm.

I do it for them.

Clinic follow up

3 weeks post-op

We headed back to clinic today for Jack Nathan's post-op follow up.  Today I had a willing helper along for the day!

Josiah our entertainer!
Despite a few spots that weren't healing well, the doctor said everything looks great!  Jack has a small spot where an abscessed stitch is working it's way to the surface.  It's been producing some pus...  but this morning we could see a tiny stitch emerging.  Soon it will be out and his lip can finish healing.  Other than that spot he looks great!  The surgeon was pleased.

We go back in 3 months to talk about the palate repair.

His hearing was tested again and with the tubes in his hearing is Normal!  It was neat to be in the booth with him  and see him respond very quickly (this time) to all the sounds and prompts.  It was also especially fun for me because I've sat in this booth many, many, many times before with Abby.  She doesn't respond to sounds in the same way and can't enjoy the clapping monkey or dancing pig.  The results are usually not encouraging.

Watching Jack Nathan turn his little head, pointing and giggling at the prompts... it was just fun.

A good day!
